The face of King Tut

According to a report by the Agence France Presse, scientists have concluded that 18th Dynasty Pharaoh Tutankhamen died of gangrene due to a fracture in his leg that led to the infection.
Howard Carter, the Egyptologist who originally discovered King Tut’s tomb in 1921, concluded that the fracture on Tut’s leg was due to an accident that occurred during the mummification process.

French and US scientists who examined the Pharaoh?s remains earlier this year concluded that the fracture occurred a day before his death. Below is an image of the face of his mummy in January when the CT scans were taken.

In addition to making this announcement on his death on May 10, a silicone mold was revealed purporting to represent the king as he looked when he was alive.

Tutankhamen died 3,300 years ago at age 19.
