The House rebukes the prez

This is good to see.  The House has voted overwhelmingly to rebuke President Obama’s recent signing statement attempting to ignore international aid payments as outlined in the bill.  I despise these damn signing statements.  I don’t care if it’s Bush or Obama, there is no constitutional or legal basis for them.  The president has two options when a bill comes to his desk, sign it, veto it. (And yes there are other maneuvers by failing to sign allowing a bill to become law as well as the pocket veto which is a debatable manuver).

The president cannot pick and choose what to enforce.  We don’t have a king, we have a president subordinated to law, at least in theory.

Good for the House.  Shame on Obama for using a manuever used and abused by Bush.
