Two American citizens detained and searched in April by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents filed a legal claim against the agency Monday alleging ethnic stereotyping and racial profiling.
Arquimides Bautista, 20, of Aurora and Rosalba Artimas, 46, of Littleton were confronted by ICE agents who questioned their citizenship while they were on their way to an Amway convention in Omaha.
ICE spokesman Carl Rusnok said 36 of the 42 passengers on the bus were in the U.S. illegally and the agents suspected the bus was being used to smuggle people.
