Texas Senator tells immigrant witness to “speak English”

During a testimony at a Texas senate committee hearing on a bill meant to crack down on so-called “sanctuary cities”, Texas senator Chris Harris (R-Arlington), interrupted a man testifying in Spanish, saying he should “be speaking in English” because it was “insulting” to “them” to hear him speak Spanish.

Antolin Aguirre speaks Spanish and is functional in English which linguistically places him far ahead of this redneck piece of shit. I speak five languages. How many do you speak, Chris, you uneducated prick? I doubt he’s really ever traveled around the world or explored other cultures. His experiences seem limited. What an empty boring man.

When they come to Spain they speak in English and no one feels insulted. What’s more, we learn English (with more or less success, but at least we try), so we can talk to them in our own country.

Thanks, Luis. So many of my American countrymen are embarrassingly rude and simple-minded like this Chris Harris. Most Americans never bother to learn a foreign language, which itself not only has the practical benefit of increasing the number of people with whom one may communicate, but also serves to sharpen one’s cognitive skills.
