I like to think of the ability to peacefully amend the constitution as the constitutional safety valve, with an Article V convention being the ultimate tool of We the People to reign in our government. This was the wisdom of our Founders. It keep us from violent government overthrow, which would be disastrous. It’s probably time to make use of this legal safety valve.
