I have no problem with electronic voting. In fact I embrace it. However, the way in which electronic voting has been implemented in this country suffers from many problems which raise the brow in suspicion of something perhaps nefarious. Among many reforms in electronic voting that I would advocate, the starting point needs to be open software. In a democracy, the people have an fundamental right to know how their votes are counted.
In Nevada slot machines must share their source code to ensure integrity. If this is the standard for gambling, shouldn’t the mechanics of our democracy come under at least the same degree of scrutiny?
