Nintendo Power magazine is shutting down after 24 years. I remember as a kid receiving Nintendo Power’s predecessor, the free Nintendo Fun Club News, which was just a few pages long. Then one day I got a free copy of the first issue of Nintendo Power in the mail with a letter explaining that the newsletter was no more and if I wanted to pay, I could subscribe to this new magazine which was huge compared to the newsletter. I hit up my dad and got a subscription. I think at the time I was all about the OG Legend of Zelda (in the gold cartridge), Metroid and Kid Icarus for the old 8 bit NES.
